{boozing} jim chandler In 1967 a dr in LA told me I had five years or less to live if I didn't quit drinking having gone to him with a massive swelling under my right rib cage & some pains I couldn't identify I didn't summer of '76 came and I was down w/severe hepatitis spent 3 months in bed the color of a penny vomiting up every bite until I was down from 190 to 125 brother in law saved my life with a big coffee can of Mexican grass I smoked all day got hungry ate & kept it down when I miraculously recovered sawbones sd he was amazed had only seen one person before with a liver inflammation count high as mine survive & that dude was totally disabled again told that further drinking would kill me being the wise man I was I left the dr's office went to the liquor store got a sixer of tall Colt 45 & a quart of Jim Beam went home sat down at the kitchen table & didn't stop until it was all gone here 31 years later I wonder if those doctors are still alive & doubt it & marvel that I am still half alive though I sometimes doubt that too |
