Syntax Issue 10
Denver Syntax
{i had a bad dream and it lasted two nights}
  kat sanchez

The moon scribbled until the whole sky was black

Two men came to the window
More tired
Than me

They wore grey flannel suits and they looked

Something grafted to the ocean’s greyslate

It was oily and porcelain

Fish slicked off the surface
Threw themselves through my clean window

Mussed up the blinds so
I have to buy new ones

All the starfish were black now and in the sky

They didn’t even look like chalk dust

I tried asking the moon for another word
One I could sound out phonetically

More men came and laid around in the front yard
Making sloppy cursive

With their arms and their writhing
Grey torsos
