PHILLIP CORWIN is a widely published poet and short story writer. He has also written memoirs about his experiences with the United Nations in international peacekeeping. His most recent books are Dubious Mandate (Duke University Press, 1999), about his time in Bosnia, and Doomed in Afghanistan (Rutgers University Press, 2003), about his time in Afghanistan.
